Hiatus
Well, I know that I've only just begun this journal, but it is time to say goodbye for just a little while.

I am not stopping my diet by no means, but I will be losing the internet for awhile. My husband and I are moving to another town and we do not know when we will be able to get the internet again due to service and increase in rent.

I will, however, try to update as often as I can (at least once a week I hope). I hope to get access to the internet through the library where we are moving.

Have a good day all! ~Emzi

Count them Calories!
I have never counted calories, but I was a little interested just to see how much or many of what I have eaten today. So, I went to Atkins.com and checked out the Carb Gram Counter. This so far is my total intake for the day:

Calories: 792
Fat: 57.2
Carbs: 58.7
Fiber: 1.7
Protein: 28.2

I, for one, don't think that this is all too bad. I suppose I could be doing better, but this is a major breakthrough. Especially if you compare it to what I would have eaten in the past. I do not know how many calories I consumed each day before I decided to take ahold of my problem. It could have been in the several thousands and I didn't even think twice about eating the Little Debbie Snack Cake or drinking the Regular Pepsi. I was bad.

Enough said.

Day #4
Well, today is day #4 and surprisingly it's been an easy 4 days! I am finding this diet quite easy to do and also it's been a breeze to stick to!

Here is a quick run down of what I have eaten the last few days:

Tuesday
  • Lunch: tomato flatout wrap w/ turkey, swiss, lettuce, tomato, onion and ranch dressing; diet soda.
  • Dinner: english muffin pizza (1 english muffin, pizza sauce, and mozzarella cheese); diet, caf-free soda.
Wednesday
  • Lunch: same as tuesday; water.
  • Dinner: wasn't hungry; water.
  • Snack: slim jim (I know it probably wasn't the best for me, but hey...it was better than candy!)
Thursday(today)
  • Lunch: 1/3 cup chicken salad on croissant w/ 2 slices of provolone cheese; diet, caf-free soda.
  • Snack: 1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese; water.
  • Dinner: I haven't decided yet, but since we are in the process of moving and all of our dishes and such are packed away I'll probably just have some sliced cucumber w/ some Kraft Carb-Well Ranch Dressing.
And that folks is the run down from the last few days. I've been getting plenty to eat and I haven't felt starved at all. I have only had sweets once since Monday. On Tuesday night I had 1 (one) doughnut. Although, it wasn't as bad as it seemed because I had only had 2 of the 5 allowable carb choices for the day & the diet states: "NO cookies (dry or sweet), cake, or pastry unless you drop 2 CHO choices." And it was only 1, not 5 like I would have had in the past!

Well, I do believe that this is all for now. Yall have a good one! ~Emzi

Day #2
Good Evening Yall!

Well, this is day #2 and all is going better than I had expected. I haven't cheated today on my diet & it's been surprisingly easy. Here is a list of what I have eaten today so far:

Breakfast: plain bagel w/ cream cheese; water
Lunch: Tomato Flat Out wrap w/ turkey, swiss, lettuce, tomato, onion and pepper mill ranch dressing; diet caf-free soda
Dinner: cucumber slices w/ kraft carb well ranch dressing; diet caf-free soda

I have only had water and diet soda (most of which was caffeine-free). On this diet you don't necessarily need to watch your calories, but I don't think that I have done too bad for it only being day #2.

I need to get a better bathroom scale. The one I have gets the job done, but I'm just not to reliant on its answers. But you watch...As soon as I get a nicer, more acturate scale I will have automatically gained 20lbs because the thing can't weigh me appropriately. Such is life. Well, for me, I suppose.

Well, I suppose that I ought to get going and eat those cucumber slices that I have listed above (as I have not eaten yet, just wrote it down)! Have a good night yall!

Hello.
This isn't my first journal, but it is a new journey into the dieting world. I have seen so many diaries out there with so much success that I've decided to try this out for myself. So, I suppose I should start out by telling everyone a little bit about myself.

So, my name is Emily and I am 22 years old. On March 5th, 2004, I married the love of my life, Justin. We have decided that it is time for us to start trying for a family. And this is where my diet journal starts.

I haven't always been fat. I was a normal sized child, but sometime around the 5th grade I started gaining my weight. Stupid puberty. By the eigth grade I weighed somewhere around 200 pounds. I steadily continued to put on weight all throughout high school and by graduation, in 2002, I weighed at least 240 lbs.

I entered college in the fall of 2002 and acutually lost a little wieght due to never having time to eat and always being on the run! While in college I met Justin. I didn't go back to school after the first year due to financial problems, but in the mean time Justin and I got married.

After getting married I suppose you could say I got a little too comfortable in my relationship because I sure did pack the weight on. Within the time since May 2003 & now I have gained somewhere in the range of 30-40 lbs.

As I stated before, my husband and I would like to start a family of our own. But, I have not been able to get pregnant. We have been trying for quite some time & I am worried that I may not be able to get pregnant due to my wieght.

I started my period at the age of 12, but my cycles have never been regular. They were more regular when I was younger and weighed a lot less. Since gaining these last 30-40lbs my periods have become fewer and more time in between. I have been charting my periods since 2003 with hopes that someday I will have some closure. I am hoping that losing some of this excess weight that I have will help me to become pregnant. Besides, it would be a healthier and less risky pregnancy along with the fact that I would be a lot healthier too. All would benefit!

I currently weigh 258 lbs with my highest weight being 273 lbs. I started back in May of this year with my own version of a low-carb diet and lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 lbs. I have since gained back some of the weight due to falling off the diet for the last few weeks.

So, starting today I am now on a new diet. My husband will be joining me on this journey as well seeing how he's got a bit of weight to lose as well. At least I won't have to go through this alone this time. That is a major plus.

The diet that I will be trying is called the "Whole Foods Weight Loss Eating Plan." It is quite similar to a low-carb diet, but you are actually allowed to eat carbs. And when I say carbs I mean the good carbs like potatoes, bread, rice, etc. YUM! All of the kinds of carbs you crave while on a diet!

So, with this entry I start my diet.
I would like to point out that the goal weight of 150lbs is a long term goal. I would like to set myself with smaller, more obtainable goals that way I don't feel so overwhelmed. I am setting my first goal weight at 240lbs. That is almost 20lbs from where I am today. My current stats are:

SW: 273
CW: 258
CGW: 240
GW: 150

I would like to thank everyone in advance for any advice or support that you can give! Wish me luck and good luck to you! ~Emzi
